# Nova 2023

Nova 2023 is Shoplazza's reference theme, which is built for performance, flexibility, and ease of use. It uses a [Lessjs component library](https://lessjs.shoplazza.com/) based on [Web Components](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Web_components) to build themes more easily.

Nova 2023 is an ultra-lightweight theme that uses atomic components, minimal JavaScript, and almost all JavaScript code is executed asynchronously.

## Clone Nova 2023 and build

You can use Nova 2023 as a starting point to build your own theme. If you're using [Shoplazza CLI](/docs/theme/developer-tools/shoplazza-cli/) for theme development, then you can use the [init command](/docs/theme/developer-tools/shoplazza-cli/theme-commands#init) to clone the repository to your local machine. You can also clone Nova 2023 directly from the [repository](https://github.com/Shoplazza/Nova-2023).
